The Learning Institute launches A Series of Research Workshop on Climate Change, Food Security and Natural Resource Management.

Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 26 July 2013—The Learning Institute organizes a Series of Workshop on Climate Change, Food Security and Natural Resource Management on 22nd, 29th August, and 05th September 2013 at Himawari Hotel Apartments.

“Participants attending these workshops will improve understanding on different approaches and challenges that local community in different regions uses to adapt with climate change and natural resource management,” says Heng Chinda, Research Interest Group Coordinator.

On 22nd August 2013, the workshop mainly focuses on climate change, water management and food security in which three research topics are discussed, and on 29th of August 2013, the workshop discusses on the topic of land use change and food security of indigenous people. On the last day of the workshop, 05th September 2013, presentation from three research topics about climate change and fisheries-dependent communities will be provided to participants. A series of research workshop on climate change, food security and natural resource management is part of Development Researched Forum (DRF) focusing on governance of natural resources implemented by the Learning Institute and funded by International Development Research Center (IDRC) through the Cambodia Development Resource Institute (CDRI). These workshops are animated with contributions from various institutions such as: Fishery Administration, Ministry of Environment, Analyzing Development Issues Centre, Cambodia Centre for Study and Development in Agriculture, the Learning Institute, Royal University of Phnom Penh, Save Vulnerable Cambodian, and Department of Land Management, Department of Agriculture and Department of Water Resources and Meteorology in Battambang Province.

The Learning Institute is a non-governmental and non-political organization founded in 2005 and has since worked towards enhancing sustainability and equity in natural resource use, management and governance.
