The Financial Education Training the Trainers (14-17 June) aims to give social workers, teachers or any potential trainers the tools and confidence to train on the following topics:
-Spending
-Earning
-Saving
-Planning
-Managing debt
In this highly interactive workshop, participants will
-Understand why basic financial literacy is important,
-Grasp the challenges of teaching finance,
-Learn how to teach financial concepts through a + b = 3 “Money” packages for adults and young people,
-Attend a training sample run by an a + b = 3 trainer
-Practice facilitating in front of a friendly audience,
-Identify how to adapt the training standard kits to their own students’ needs,
-Write an implementation plan for their own organisation
-Assess how to evaluate the impact of their financial education project.
About the organizer:
a + b = 3 is a Hong Kong based social enterprise designing financial education programmes, and providing Training the Trainers workshops, primarily in Asia. Since our creation end of 2005, our programmes have reached more than 3,000 people, children and adults, in Hong Kong, Cambodia and the Philippines, either directly or through partnerships with other organisations.
In Cambodia, a + b = 3 has run training the trainers workshop in Sisophon (2007) and Phnom Penh (2009). In the 9 months following the Phnom Penh workshop which was attended by 20 trainers from 5 different organisations, the trainers implemented several financial education workshops attended by 300 people.
The training is open to:
- Local not-for-profit organisations
- International not-for-profit organisations
- Micro-credit institutions, banks
- Human Resources or Social Responsible Manager in for-profit companies
The participating organisations/trainers should be committed to train the people they support to better manage money and willing to work with the a + b = 3 team to monitor the implementation and impact of financial education.
Language: the training will be taught in English. The trainers’ guide will be provided in Khmer and English. Additional explanations in French if needed.
