Dear Sothyro

In order to encourage to people to participate in online forum, I think key resource is very important to encourage user to joint in our forum. The question that we should raise in this time how we engage key resource people in online forum. For my point of view

(1) Role of moderator: Moderator haas important role to communicate and create a networking with other people that has specific expertise in their working experience. For example, Mr. A has six years experience in training and capacity building. Thus, moderator need to encourage them to joint and when has questions that related with training and capacity buidling, we need to request him or her to share their experience.

(2) Motivation and encourgagement: Moderator need to keep in attach with key resource people and in case of their active in answer quesion, we need to invitation letter to send to him and post his achievement in website that allow many people to see him or her.

(3) Encourage many members to participate: When there are members to participate in the online forum in one web page, it will become very popular. That is why key resource people are very satisfy to joint, because they can get more knowledge and experience, and especially he or she will become popular and acknowledge what he or she good at.

(4). Keep communication: Moderator need to keep and encourage to all the members need to be active in participant to online forum and especially to encourage resource people that has expert in this questions. The moderator need to use transfer questions to any people that has specific knowledg and skills to answer the questions.

(5). Understand the profie of members. Moderator need to know their member profiles and encourage them to share their experience what they understand. This is the role of moderator in communication with members.

Dear Sothyro,

You know your question is easy easy but difficult. It requires much deep thinking, but it is good discussion for us as researchers.

I think that all experts always do not have much free time. If he or she has more free time, he or she does not become expert, and that is why we now discuss how to hook the key people to join such our forum. To my knowledge and experience, we should do some following points.

1. In this situation, our teams probably know who the key people already. It should be started with that we should often link our group to the key people by sending them with news, information and other events regarding to our forum so that the experts will less or more check or forum discussion.

2. At the same time we contact the key people, we also should make sure that we, the DR forum have been ready to show up our potentials. We have to make sure that we are a dynamic and active team which attracts more participation, sharing and discussion from many researchers and learners so that we can hook the key people to see the potential of our discussion forum. This will make the experts think that “many people participate in such the good forum why not me”.
3. It is the most important that we contact the expert people, and we explain them our mission and our goal of establishing this forum.

4. We also should send out our invitation letter directly to the key people. It is noted that the invitation by letter is the most official procedure that people in the world do it so far, and it is the best way to express our sincere intent and strong feeling with best appreciation to the expert people.

Hi DRF members,

My name is Thol Buntha and I am a graduate student in media management at Royal University of Phnom Penh.

Mr. Khemra, I think, you are a key resource person for the questions raised by Mr. Sothyro. You always have detailed and good answers to his doubts. For your last explanation on how to keep key resource people with our online forum, I also agree with your ideas.

I am interested in your first point saying that ‘create a networking with other people who have specific experiences’. Yes, I also support Mr. Raksmey’s comments that the forum moderator has to identify clearly who are the key resource people that we should invite to join the team. They can be the key people in relevant research institutions and NGOs, students at university or people in other private sectors.

After the moderator clearly identify the key participants, he can start to contact them by inform them the purpose, objectives and benefits that they will gain after their presence in the online discussion. In this we can list the advantages that Mr. Khemra listed in his last comment. I think those points are important messages that the facilitator should use to motivate the new participants. For Mr. Raksmey’s impression that we should send the key people with official letters, I think we will have to spend a bit much time for this. Yes it is good, if we can do. But we should try to contact by fast technological methods firstly like through email or phone because it might use less time and also with less cost.

Then if they become our member, the next step is to keep communication, engagement, encouragement and recognition like Mr. Khemra has mentioned. These a few steps are also really essential for all key resource participants. In this, we will show them that their impression and point of view sharing is really important for all online members as well as overall internet users who visit our weblogs. We can also show some of noticeable achievements that a number of key resource people have completed through the discussion.

I still keep in touch with you all the members of DRF, especially I am really curious to see all of your beneficial comments and for those who like to share.

Kind Regards,
