Anyway I will try and find the time and way to go and visit. Please let me know if you know of any other CBET ventures.

Hi Sakhena,

Thanks for your message. I would really like to know more about CBET in the Cardamom Mtns, as in who is running it, how is it working how are the benefits shared etc. I had some experience in Peru, as I visited some CBET run by indigenous groups and it seemed to be doing very well, as they controlled all the operations.

Tell me more about yourself (use the e-mail) and what kind of specific work you are doing. I know in Canada there are even ecotourism around fish watching...so who really knows what is possible with some creative thinking a good, willing people to work with.

Thanks again,

later,
Ron

Hi Sakena,

Welcome to the DRF, I am a new member as well, I am the new Technical Advisor for FACT and will be based in PP but also looking at fisheries issues in the coastal areas, the Tonle Sap and Mekong River areas.

I think that the potential for really strong, community-based eco-tourism is high here in Cambodia, some of the communities in the Caradmom mountains are trying this with success, with the majority of the returns staying in the community.

Drop me a note on your interests, perhaps they are in common with FACT and we can collaborate, I am also interested in Food as a Human Right and what that means for development of rural Cambodia
